BIOGRAPHY
GERALD T. DEIS
Jerry has always had a story to tell. A native of the Ithaca area, he has worked in the arts for many years.
Currently, he is a Digital Communications Specialist in the Office of the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Office at Cornell University. In this role, he creates photo and video content and maintains social media accounts.
Previously, he worked for The Rev Theatre Company (formerly Merry-Go-Round Playhouse/Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival) as Marketing Manager. He produced video, graphic, and written content, managed social media accounts, and maintained multiple websites.
Jerry worked in film and television for many years. Most recently, he worked as a Researcher and Production Assistant for the documentary Beyond Ink and Paint, which chronicles the underappreciated history of women in animation. He also served as the Production Manager for The Sweet Life with Chris Xaver, a cooking show that was nationally distributed on PBS.
He has written and produced video content for Purchase College, Cornell University, SUNY Cortland, and independent productions.
As a writer, Jerry has written a variety of theatrical and film productions. Jerry’s short play Rosemary Kennedy, was staged as part of the Make it Play festival. He wrote the short film L.A.T.E., which won First Place in the Syracuse Short Film Festival.
Jerry is a graduate of Purchase College, with a Bachelor’s in Playwriting and Screenwriting. He also holds Associates' degrees in Television Production and Digital Film Production from Tompkins Cortland Community College.
